The Annual Meeting and Reception Committee plans and organizes the Section’s annual meeting, which is held each September during the Advanced Civil Appellate Practice Course in Austin. The meeting includes the discussion of Section business and the election of officers. The Committee also conducts an annual Appellate Song Lyrics Contest, in which Section members are invited to submit adaptations of popular songs with appellate lyrics. At the conclusion of the meeting, the top three songwriters receive prizes and their songs are announced and sung by a professional singer. The Committee also plans and hosts a reception honoring the judiciary following the annual meeting.
